The National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK is a compassionate and understanding lifeline for those grappling with their mental well-being or thoughts of suicide. Our lines are open every day from 6 pm until midnight, offering a safe haven for anyone who needs someone to talk to.

Our mission is simple: to be there for you when you need us the most. Everyone's journey is unique, and some may find themselves at this critical point more frequently than others. Our dedicated volunteers are here to lend a caring, non-judgmental ear, providing a comforting space and time for you to discuss your feelings or concerns about someone close to you. To speak with us, dial 0800 587 0800 If you encounter any issues connecting to this number, an alternative option is available at 0800 689 0880. In a life-threatening emergency, remember to dial 999 first.
If you or someone you care about is experiencing an emotional or mental health crisis needing immediate attention: Reach out to the person's GP, the GP out-of-hours service, or call NHS on 111.
If you fear for someone's immediate safety, guide them to Accident and Emergency or dial 999 for immediate assistance.
National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK is generously funded by Suicide Prevention UK, and all calls are answered by extensively trained volunteers.
We welcome callers of all languages, facilitated by Language Line Solutions. Please let our volunteer know your language preference when they answer your call.
Moreover, our volunteers are equipped with additional training to assist individuals with hearing and/or speech impairments, utilizing the national relay service Relay UK.
